Of course everyone knows that this is "The LAN party Pad", but what the hell is the point in having it if you can't even host a LANParty to begin with!? To briefly describe it, a LANParty is a gathering of gamers who all bring their computers, play video games on their computers hooked up to a LAN (Local Area Network), and eat a lot of fat-filled foods. All this is during your struggle of trying to stay awake through the night (and maybe multiple nights!) and evade the inevitable defeat to sleep.

Maybe you'd like to have a few friends over for a LANParty, or maybe you're feeling generous and decide to have your friends over along with their friends and maybe your friends' friends' friends. Maybe you'll just send out flyers to the whole neighborhood. Whether your LANParty consists of four people or one-hundred four people, read on.

Some of you may be thinking, "wow, that's downright silly". Think what you want, but having a LANParty will be the most fun you will ever have with your machine, that being most likely your KEEN MACHINE. Let's just say you're in a ferocious deathmatch versus someone you know or someone you don't know. You hear gunshots, notice you're getting shot at, run around the corner, jump up onto the top ledge, watch your opponent below you looking around for you, you leap down behind him, duck an incoming missile, then take his head off with your shotgun...
----To celebrate at a LANParty, you would:
-leap up and scream, "OWNED!"
-take a mental picture of the anguish on his face
-laugh and point at him
-ask him, "who yo daddy is, son?!"
-mention that he couldn't kill you if you were paralyzed from the ears down

----Now, if you were at home by yourself playing online, you would celebrate your victory by:
-logging into your myspace account

When hosting your LANParty, remember, these are people you're dealing with. Where there are people in a room for so long, things start to happen. Tentions rise, crankiness, etc etc. It's your party, if you aren't happy with someone's attitude, tell them and send them on their way. People will back you up. Even if it's your friend, maybe he or she is having a bad day; they'll get over it.

Also, lots of people in one spot for so long, especially guys, is a recipe for some very bad odor. Always have some form of relief from the odor. Febreze works well.

Don't forget the few things I'm going to mention next, or your LANParty will be hell. Food, liquids, and an easily accessible restroom. For foods, get stuff like pizza, nachos, chips... don't be lame and go with vegetables, fruits, and other unpartily edibles. Water is acceptable for some, but soda is highly recommended (beer if attendees are of age). Have a bathroom, at least one, two or three recommended - the party just can't go on very long without those.

When announcing your event, include the following:
-Time to Arrive
-Time event will likely end
-Likely times of critical activities (tournaments, food, etc)
-Age restrictions
-Rules concerning alcohol, etc.
-Sound restrictions. Are you going to allow speakers or are headphones a must or both? some parties use speakers until evening and then revert to headphones due to neighbors.
-Tournament Maps and where to get them.
-Local hotels (if it's a multi-day event)
-Entrance Fee
-Food and Beverage plans
-Games that you will feature

Make sure you keep the games rolling and the food a coming. It's your job to make sure everyone is having fun, and for good reasons, if there is just people standing around and not there to play, kindly tell them to leave. If they're not part of the LANParty, they don't belong there. Keep in mind other obvious things: is there enough tables? Chairs? Trash cans? Know what you're doing and take charge. Make every LANParty of yours good and well organized. If not, people may not return. But for the most part, if you build it, they will come...

Wow, I am Impressed!! You should consider a LAN party Coordinator as a second career major... seriously! You'd make one hell of a good host! You did not miss one single thing Lt... again... I am Impressed!! :shock:

Heh, thanks. It's based off the guide on www.LANParty.com though, I just put in my own words and shortened it by a large margin.
